Urban Legend Essay
There are many Urban Legends that are exaggerated but are believed to be true. Urban legends are best described as cautionary or moralistic tales passed along by those who believe (or claim) the incidents befell either folks they know personally or acquaintance of friends or family members. They really took off during the 20th century- particularly following the Jack the Ripper murders (in England) and the Ed Gein case (in the US) - people suddenly realised that in some cases the murderer could be the guy next door. In the three body paragraphs, I will explain the coca cola, the sheriff shooting and the urinating in the pool Urban Legends.
The Urban Legends that Coca Cola used to contain cocaine in the soda pops. Coca Cola was named for it to medicinal ingredients extract of Coca leaves and kola nuts. In 1902 it was as little as 1/400 of a grain of cocaine per ounce of syrup. The Urban Legend about the Coca Cola is true. Coca Cola was not responsible for turning people into dope addicted because there was not effort cocaine in the Coca Cola.
The next Urban Legend was that there was and chemical that you could put in swimming pools. To change the color of the water inside the swimming pool. This Urban Legend is false because there is no chemical substance that you can put inside the pool to change the color if someone urinates inside the pool.
A suspect was pulled over and he shot to police officer and a dog. The he had leaded the police on and wild police chase. Then the suspect got out of his car and was hiding in the woods the officer call the swat team and they open firer on the suspect shooting him over 68 times. This is and story of a true Urban Legend that ended up in a bad way.
In conclusion there are the Urban Legend that in thought was the most interest to me. The Urban Legend are pass down from generation to generation telling tales. There is all kind of true and false Urban Legend and some that are both true and false.
